Liviu Vasilescu – former Chief of the Romanian Police – is Senior Advisor for Forensic Investigations & Litigation Support within CRÂZNIC&ASSOCIATES – ATTORNEYS AT LAW, a role in which he combines the operational expertise gained in law enforcement structures with a deep understanding of procedural mechanisms.
With more than three decades of experience in the Romanian Police and in leading law enforcement structures and operational strategy, Liviu Vasilescu brings to CRÂZNIC&ASSOCIATES – ATTORNEYS AT LAW extensive expertise in complex investigations, institutional compliance, risk management, and crisis response. His experience includes coordinating national and international investigations and supervising the operational structures of the Romanian Police.
Within CRÂZNIC&ASSOCIATES – ATTORNEYS AT LAW Liviu Vasilescu will provide strategic support in areas involving internal investigations, compliance, litigation risk assessment, and cross‑border regulatory matters, contributing to the delivery of efficient and secure legal services for both domestic clients and multinational companies pursuing complex investments in Romania.
His role is strictly consultative and does not include legal assistance or representation of clients.
His appointment reflects the firm’s commitment to offering multidisciplinary support to corporate and institutional clients operating in highly regulated and risk‑exposed sectors, and contributes to delivering high‑quality legal services in litigation, regulatory matters, and corporate advisory, as well as strategic, results‑oriented solutions for both local and international clients.
A retired Lieutenant General of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Liviu has held some of the most important leadership positions within the Romanian Police, including Inspector General of the Romanian Police and Director General of the General Anticorruption Directorate. Throughout his career, he coordinated specialized structures focused on combating organized crime, managing operational situations, and implementing national and international strategic projects.
His professional background includes studies in engineering, police law, security, and good governance, as well as numerous specialization programs in collaboration with institutions such as the FBI, DEA, U.S. Customs, BKA, and other international agencies. He has been involved in the development of European and transatlantic projects, contributing to the modernization of the operational capabilities of the Romanian Police.
For his activity, Liviu has been awarded numerous orders and honorary distinctions by Romanian and international institutions.
